In 1974 at the age of 21 the Lord called Pastor Abraham for the ministry. In 1976 together with his brother-in-law Pastor V.A Thampy they established a movement called New India Church of God. The organisation with a humble beginning grew rapidly under their leadership in the state of Kerala. In 1980 he was married to Joyce and they set out to Delhi to start their ministry in North India.
Pastor Abraham’s North India ministry
With the task of learning Hindi and adapting to the northern culture he set out to reach the lost in North India. He has undergone several physical persecutions including being beaten up and left for dead. The Lord honoured Pastor Abraham by opening new doors and using him mightily among the people of various states. Churches were planted, Bible Schools were established, Christian schools, Orphanages, Destitute homes, and Rehabilitation centres were set up. The ministry continues to grow. Today New India Church of God has over 5000 churches in 23 states of India and Nepal, 14 Bible Schools in different languages, 5 Schools called Bethesda Christian Academy, 17 Children’s homes, 65 Sewing Schools, Rehabilitation Centres for HIV & AIDS victims. Street feeding programmes feeding up to 1,000 children every day in Delhi. A Retirement home for retired Pastors was opened in 2010 and also the establishing of an Engineering College called Bethesda Institute of Technology and Science in the city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
He has a powerful anointed preaching ministry and is a sought after speaker in India and also an International Conference Speaker in the USA, Australia, Korea, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Middle East, Republic of Congo, Poland, Ukraine, France, Germany and England.
He has travelled more than 40 countries Preaching the Word of God
For 6 years Pastor Abraham worked tirelessly with Dr John Joseph, the Member of the Minorities Commission Board, to bring about reconciliation between Christian and Hindu Leaders during the years of intense persecution. This was a time when hundreds of Christians were martyred beaten, burned alive and raped for their faith in Christ including the Australian missionary and his two sons Graham Staines. During that time God fulfilled the promises he had made to him that he would stand before Kings and men of authority in the government in his country and witness to them for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was enabled to witness and pray with several Prime Ministers of India and many other members of Parliament and Men of Authority in the Indian Government.
