90s Christian Band “Stone to Flesh” Reunites After 30 Years
A beloved 90s Australian Christian band is making a comeback — and longtime fans couldn’t be more excited.
Stone to Flesh, who first formed in the mid-1990s, are reuniting three decades after they first began sharing the good news of Jesus through music.
During their early years, the band released an EP and two full albums in just three years, performing to thousands across Australia and leaving a lasting impact on the Christian music scene.
Now, 30 years later, four of the original members have returned — joined by a new bass player — to reignite their passion for proclaiming Christ through song.
A Reunion Years in the Making
Stone to Flesh originally parted ways in 1997 when three of the members left to pursue theological studies and full-time ministry. Though life led them in different directions, the band stayed in touch — and, over time, many of them found themselves back in Canberra.
Their reunion story took an unexpected turn when 1WAY FM’s BG stumbled upon a Stone to Flesh CD in a bargain bin and decided to reach out. What started as a nostalgic radio interview on 1WAY FM quickly rekindled something deeper.
“Realising that the fire to proclaim Jesus through music was still alight, the seeds for a reunion gig were planted,” BG shared.
Since then, the band has hinted that new music may be on the horizon — a thrilling thought for those who remember their powerful lyrics and heartfelt performances.
A Message That Still Matters
Singer and guitarist Andrew Lubbock says the band’s message remains the same as it was in the 90s:
“More than ever, Stone to Flesh are motivated by God’s great atoning love in the Lord Jesus Christ — that turns stony, sinful hearts to trust the risen Jesus.”
Their name, Stone to Flesh, draws from Ezekiel 36:26 — “I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” The band continues to stand on that truth: that God transforms lives through His love and grace.
