Come and enjoy a wonderful evening of French music from the Llewellyn Choir, with Maurice Durufle’s Requiem and works by Lili Boulanger performed. Durufle’s Requiem was commissioned in 1941, but not completed until 1947 – drawing on Gregorian chant, it is regarded as one of the finest 20th century religious works, and has come to be associated with the call for world peace. Nearly half a century earlier, Lili Boulanger had written the three pieces featured in our concert program. Boulanger, the first female winner of the Prix de Rome composition prize, fuses styles from Romantic and Impressionist composers like Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy into her choral works.Conducted by: Rowan Harvey
