SINGING SCHOOLΒ –Β February to March
Weekly SessionsΒ –Β Mid March to end of October
Shape note singing is a folk gospel tradition developed for people who could not read or write.Β The music is written in 4 shapes and looks like normal music with the note shapes being – triangle, circle, square and diamond.Β We sing in 4 parts around a hollow square facing each other.Β The person leading the song stands in the middle of the square and members take turns doing this on a voluntary basis for each new song.Β Its community singing and has a tribal feel to it.Β It is open to all ages and all singers.Β We say – if you have a desire to sing you are welcome to join us.Β You come as you are and sing as you do.
