Heroes of the Faith this week features Charles Spurgeon, known as the Prince of Preachers. He began preaching in a small Baptist Church when he was a young teenager after a dramatic conversion. From his commencement as a preacher he focussed on preaching only the Gospel and people’s need for Christ. This was during the rise of Darwinism. He encountered a lot of ridicule but was not swayed. Eventually he preached in London to thousands every Sunday. The New York Times printed his sermons every week and his sermons were eventually printed as books which are still very readable today.
