Heroes of the Faith: Andrew White

Heroes of the Faith this week features Andrew White.

Andrew went from being ordained and part of a parish in England to being known as the Vicar of Baghdad. He was part of the only Anglican Church in Iraq. As part of his Christian life there he was kidnapped, shot at, and had his Church bombed. Until he was ordered out of Iraq by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Andrew went about providing pastoral care to those who had lost loved ones in the daily conflicts. Although battling a debilitating illness, Andrew still is heavily involved in providing relief and reconciliation in the Middle East. A modern hero who didn’t set out to be one.
