WINGS OF THE MORNING CD LAUNCH and CONCERT
Canberra Christian composer and pianist Michael Dooley will be launching a new CD of original music for piano and string quartet at a concert on Sunday November 18th 2018 at 2:30 p.m.
The concert will be held at the North Belconnen Uniting Church, 30 Conley Drive, Melba.
The concert will feature 12 original pieces, composed and performed by Michael and accompanied by string players from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Tim Wickham, and Phillipa Thompson on violins, Iska Samson on viola and Alex Voorhoeve on cello.
Talented lyric soprano Julie O’Connor, who hails from Young, and has performed with numerous orchestras around Australia and in various musical theatre and operatic roles, will be a special guest, performing 3 of Michael’s original spiritual songs.
Reviewing the album for the Canberra Critics Circle, Clinton White said:
“Beautiful, thoughtful compositions, played with great sensitivity. This is music that goes to the soul.”
Australian virtuoso pianist Andrew Rumsey commented:
“A sensitively crafted collection of works, all brimming with emotion and thought. A masterfully written journey of peace and calmness with glimpses of passion and nostalgia along the way…”
Some of the proceeds of the concert will go to supporting Family Care Uganda orphanage in Gulu, Uganda
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the concert at 4:30 p.m.
