Weston Creek residents are organising a community day “Waramanga Block Party” on Saturday 28 October to raise funds for a new playground in Waramanga.
This initiative has received quite a lot of media (including front page of the Canberra Chronicle twice) and there has been a video campaign, which has received hundreds of hits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjUNmpp2JJI
The Block Party picnic day will be held on the grass at the Waramanga shops behind the medical centre. We will be conducting a raffle to raise money for the playground, through gifts that have been kindly donated by Waramanga shop owners.
There will be live music, games and prizes for the kids, a sausage sizzle and we will have food for sale such as chips, soft drinks and other food. All money raised from the event will go towards the new playground.
If anyone would like to hold a stall, each stall costs $1O which will go towards fund raising for the playground, please contact dan hoyt (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more details.
