HymnFest 2016 will be held at Mosaic Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon 28th August at 2.30pm. This will be the 3rd Hymnfest arranged for the Christians of Canberra. Already a number have been asking “will you be having a Hymnfest again this year?” such was the impact of last year’s program. This encourages us to expect an even greater number to attend this year.
The organising committee have carefully chosen a range of hymns and songs, both old and new and all firm favourites, which together form a theme. This year, the theme is “Love, Mercy, Grace” and songs have been selected from such popular hymn writers as Charles Wesley, George Matheson, Graham Kendrick, John Wimber, and Charlotte Elliot. During the afternoon a Men’s Trio will sing “How deep the Father’s Love” and soloist Dylan Muir will sing “I sought the Lord”. Again the Mosaic Choir will be singing and a guest Korean Choir will provide an international touch to the program.
Last year about 220 people, from a variety of churches and denominations from Canberra and surrounding districts, gathered together in enthusiastic worship and praise through traditional, modern and contemporary songs. This year we expect even more to attend for a wonderful afternoon of praise and worship in song, which will be followed by an afternoon tea. Admission is free but a voluntary retiring offering will be taken to defray expenses.
