Event Type

Do you want to think rigorously about how to integrate life, faith and action? Through Charles Sturt University, St Mark’s will be offering Practical Theology, as evening classes in Canberra during Session 2.

‘Practical Theology’ is the name for not one but at least four distinct and/or overlapping strands. These include i) practical theology as faith in action, or lived faith, ii) the name given to the practical nuts and bolts training for Christian ministry, iii) a particular methodology for helping address a specific issue or problem and iv) a growing University discipline addressing a wide range of issues confronting society and the church. This introductory course on Practical Theology attempts to introduce all these strands and examine them in more detail. Practical theology as a Uni subject and a methodology draws together the different theological sub-disciplines and makes deliberate use of cross-disciplinary material and approaches. It is a rapidly growing and evolving field of study with practical implications for individuals, the church and society.

Course dates: 12/7/16 – 11/10/16
