COVID-19, our approach

COVID-19, our approach

We are in unprecedented times – this is the phrase on everyone’s lips at the moment, and it’s true. We haven’t dealt with a situation like this in our lifetime. COVID-19 is challenging us to look at everything we do, to make changes and adapt to a situation that is continuously changing.

We are certainly facing uncertainty, the only certainty is that God is with us, and that God will be there no matter what we are facing.

As a station, we are committed to continuing to bring you a Christian message of hope and encouragement. Our role doesn’t change at this time. We are called to share the love of Jesus, to provide information to our community from a Christian perspective reflecting the hope and love that can only be found in Christ. We are working to put in place systems and processes that will ensure we can keep bringing you great music, programs and interviews.

We have shut the station this week and will probably be closed again next week as we do our part to help flatten the curve and not put our team at risk. We are able to schedule our programs and do our administration remotely and are working on getting our presenters back on air as soon as possible – while ensuring that their health and safety is our highest priority.

Please pray for our team as we work through these changes!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

We don’t know how long this is going to last or when things will be back to ‘normal’, but in the meantime, I encourage you to look after yourself and your loved ones. Wash your hands. Maintain social distancing. Keep informed, but don’t be overwhelmed by the situation. If you need help, reach out and ask, we all need help sometimes. There are some great sources of information and help out there, like:

As we navigate these uncertain times, look after each other and be kind. There are so many wonderful stories about how people are supporting each other and finding new ways to be community, at a distance, but connected. Stay connected to God, your loved ones, your church community, and tune in to 1WAY FM for hope and encouragement.

You can even find us with your smart speaker! With a Google smart speaker say: “Okay Google, play Canberra’s 1-W-A-Y-F-M on Tuned In” to stream 1WAY FM at home. We haven’t tried the other speakers yet, but let us know how you go!

Blessings
